DBV team wins medals at “USA Boxing International Invitational 2022”

From 23 August to 16 September a DBV team stayed in the United States to participate in a retreat from 23 August to 7 September and then from 12 to 15 September at the “USA Boxing International Invitational 2022, a four-day tournament in Pueblo, Colorado. .

Eight athletes in the United States

Stefanie von Berge, Murat Yildirim, Magomed Schachidov, Deniel Krotter, Kevin Boakye Schumann, Ben Ehis, Silvio Schierle, Nelvie Tiafack and Nikita Putilov prepared the gloves for the trip across the Atlantic.

The team was followed and accompanied by Martin Volke (team manager), Eddie Bolger (head coach), Ralf Dickert, Michael Timm (national team manager), Lukas Wilaschek, Serge von Berge (national team manager), as well as Sebastian Förster and Ralph Trampe (physiotherapists). The German Boxing Association also sent Jürgen Schröder to the tournament as IBA referee.

Training camp in the mountains

Prof. Sebastian Gehlert and Dr. Oliver Heine of the Sports University of Cologne also traveled with them, in particular to provide scientific support at the Colorado Springs training camp (main training center of the US Boxing Association and the Olympic Committee of the United States). The record of the tournament: one gold, two silvers and one bronze

As a result, this led to three advancements in the final, which could receive gold once and silver twice. Nelvie Tiafack won gold in the light heavyweight division (over 92 kg), Magomed Schachidov in the light middleweight division (up to 71 kg) and Kevin Boakye Schumann in the light heavyweight division (up to 80 kg) won silver. Ben Ehis brings back the bronze medal in Germany in the light heavyweight division (up to 80 kg).

The DBV congratulates the athletes and the entire team on the success of the retreat and the tournament and takes stock:
