PRESMEDIA.IDBintan – Dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF) in Bintan in 2022 caused the death of two children (students) who died.

While 77 residents in a number of sub-districts of Bintan will experience dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) throughout 2022.

The head of the Bintan Health Bureau, Dr. Gama AF Isnaini, said the 77 dengue cases were spread across 10 sub-districts of Bintan regency.

“Of that number, two children who are still students died of dengue this year,” Gama said on Thursday (12/15/2022).

The worst case resulting in the death of residents from dengue fever in Bintan throughout 2022 was in Tanjung Permai, Seri Kuala Lobam District, then Kijang Kota, East Bintan District.

Regarding DHF cases in 10 Bintan districts, East Bintan district was the largest contributor with 38 cases. North Bintan follows with 14 cases, Seri Kuala Lobam with 11 cases, Sebong Bay with 5 cases, Toapaya with 4 cases, Gunung Kijang with 2 cases, Bintan Pesisir with 2 cases and Tambelan with 1 case.

“For Teluk Bintan and Pertamag districts throughout 2022 there will be no cases, i.e. zero cases,” he explained.

Several sub-districts in Bintan Regency are endemic areas. So there are dengue cases there. In addition, it often rains during this period, so many Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes breed.

If a person is bitten by the mosquito, the virus will enter the bloodstream and travel throughout the body. The result is an infection in healthy cells of the body.

Then there are various symptoms. Starting with a high fever of up to 40 degrees, flushing of the face, flushed skin, pain all over the body, headache, nausea and vomiting, throat infections and pain around the eyeballs.

“Because of the various symptoms, they are treated at the puskesmas or in the hospital,” he said.

DHF, Gamma said, is also a serious threat to the health of residents in Bintan Regency in addition to Covid-19. Then the community is asked to implement Clean Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS). That is to participate and take care of the cleanliness of the environment and carry forward the 3M plus movement.

Then promote the simultaneous movement to eradicate mosquito nests (Gertak PSN) by continuously activating larval monitoring agents (Jumantik) with the movement 1 house 1 jumantik in each residential area. So that it can prevent the breeding of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito which causes dengue

“We ask the public to cultivate a clean, healthy lifestyle. Remember, it’s better to be safe than sorry,” she said.
