Days Gone Head Shares Disappointment Over Abandoned Plans for Sequel

Following the conclusion of the PlayStation Showcase presentation, Jeff Ross, head of Days Gone, shared his feelings of disappointment with readers, stating that a sequel to the PS4 game could have come out last month “if we’d just stuck to our position.” But now, as you know, Sony Bend is preparing a new game after the platform owner abandoned plans to release Days Gone 2.

Ross’ full tweet reads:

“I’m a bit uneasy about these PlayStation Showcases as they just remind me that we could have released Days Gone 2 a month ago if we’d just stuck to our stance.”

If that were the case, the Days Gone sequel would have roughly a four-year development cycle, with the original game releasing in April 2019. As such, it can be assumed that this will be a sequel built largely on the foundations of Days Gone, but with some key gameplay improvements. For example, Jeff Ross has described Days Gone 2 in the past as the “final version” of the game, with improved animal AI and the ability to swim.

If Days Gone 2 came out in 2023, it would definitely improve Sony’s plans for this year, because Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Helldivers 2 should be released in the next six months. The only release from the manufacturer at the moment is Horizon Call of the Mountain for PSVR2.
