Dax increases significantly: Economic data encourages – Wirecard course beats capers, BioNTech in demand, euphoria at Varta

Europe’s stock exchanges rose significantly on Monday. In late trading, investors came to the view that the recently increasing number of coronavirus infections, for example in some US regions, should not slow down the recovery of the global economy. Investors were also encouraged by the first increase in profits of Chinese industrial companies in a year and the improved mood of European companies. BlackRock also sees greater potential for the success of European stocks than before. The investment strategists of the world’s largest asset manager upgraded regional share certificates to “overweight”. Europe’s economy is likely to get going again after corona restrictions expire, which will lead to a cyclical upward movement.

After a weak start, the Dax closed 1.2 percent higher at 12,232 points. The EuroStoxx50 gained 1.1 percent to 3240 points. Wall Street saw the US standard value index Dow Jones advance 1.7 percent by early afternoon in New York.

Wirecard stood out on the German stock market with an increase of 216 percent at times. This is the biggest price jump of a Dax value ever. The papers are a game ball for speculative investors, a trader said. According to the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”, financial investors and the competitor Worldline are interested in parts of the payment processor that was insolvent due to a balance sheet scandal. Wirecard titles closed 155 percent up at EUR 3.26. Worldline papers won just under one percent in Paris.

Lufthansa’s papers had initially lost significantly, but ultimately made a plus of 0.20 percent. Major shareholder Heinz Hermann Thiele predicted the airline, after the state bailout, a “painful way” during a “five to six year” renovation. A stockbroker sees Lufthansa investors once again reminded of the harsh reality. Since its one-week membership in the MDax, Lufthansa shares have lost more than 11 percent. The joy about the approval of the rescue package last Thursday was short.

The shares of Varta made a strong jump to the finish line and closed at 7.14 percent on the day’s high. The reason for the joy: Varta receives 300 million euros in funding to build a battery cell production.

Steel values were ahead in the SDax. Salzgitter AG won 9.28 percent to EUR 12.37. A positive analyst comment from Credit Suisse helped. The shares of the steel trader Klöckner & Co rose by 7.97 percent right behind Salzgitter.

BioNTech was also in demand. The shares of the German developer of a coronavirus vaccine listed in the US rose by more than nine percent after Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund and other investors put 250 million euros in fresh capital in the biotech company.

Coty posted a price increase of 8.8 percent on Wall Street. The cosmetics group of the German billionaire Reimann family, which includes the “Wella” brand, takes over 20 percent of the cosmetics company “KKW” from reality TV star Kim Kardashian West for $ 200 million.
