David Dostal new coach of the Hormadi d’Anglet

The long offseason of ice hockey was used by the leaders of Hormadi Anglet to carry out an ambitious recruitment (read elsewhere) and reorganize the sports staff.

We remember that due to the health problems of their coach Heikki Leime, the Basque hockey players ended the season coached by his two assistants, Max Suzzarini and Sylvain Roy.

What role for Xavier Daramy?

The 58-year-old Finnish technician will not occupy the same position when the Magnus League takes over.

Still recovering, he will gain height and “will ensure a role of coordination and supervision of the sports sector”, as “general manager”, the club said in a statement. Which does not specify the future of the current general manager Xavier Daramy.

Mathieu Cyr hangs up

Instead of Heikki Leime, David Dostal, 46, has been appointed head coach.

This former French international of Czech origin played for the Hormadi between 1998 and 2005.

His assistant will be Canadian Mathieu Cyr, who hangs up the skates at 35 after seven seasons at the Hormadi (2010–2013 then 2016–2020).

Recruitment: Kaspar, the star

In memory of an Angloy supporter, we had rarely seen such a big name land at La Barre.

The 34-year-old Czech Lukas Kaspar is the headliner of an ambitious recruitment campaign operated by Hormadi.

Passed by the best world leagues including the famous NHL, this striker with a very solid build (1.89 m – 101 kg) is also endowed with a very good technique.

He takes in his wake another no less massive striker (1.95 m – 100 kg), the 25-year-old Latvian Oskars Batna, who cut his teeth in KHL (former Russian Superliga, considered the best league in Europe).

In defense, Hormadi has enlisted the services of another experienced player, the 35-year-old Czech international Jiri Hunkes, also passed through the KHL.

This trio of rookies should allow the Hormadi to take a step forward and qualify for the play-offs of Ligue Magnus. The Angloys (9th) had failed on the last day of the championship last year.
