“Daugavpils City Celebrates its 748th Birthday with Festivities and Concerts”

This time, Daugavpils city celebrations will be held under the motto “With Daugavpils in the heart” and will be dedicated to the city’s 748th birthday.

The festivities will start already on Wednesday, May 31, when the “Latgales Organ Days” festival will take place in the mood of meditative organ music, while the festive activities of the city of Daugavpils with the celebration of the International Children’s Day in Dubrovina Park, the traditional Forštate festival and the Daugavpils Theater concert program will begin on June 1.

From Friday, June 2, the festive mood will be enjoyed all day in Daugavpils University Square, A. Pumpura Square and in various Daugavpils cultural institutions. In addition to the diverse concert program, the 3rd meeting of Latvian accordionist orchestras and entertainment for children, the festive market on Rīgas street and outdoor cafes will also start their activities. But from The 18th festival will also begin to sound on the main festival stage of the city in Vienības Square, where the groups “Bel Tempo”, “Carnival Youth”, “The Sound Poets” and singer Féliks Šinders will perform.

The culmination of the Daugavpils city festival will be reached on Saturday, June 3, when after the break of the Covid-19 pandemic, the traditional Daugavpils city festival procession will take place again, in which this time representatives of various municipal institutions, schools, cultural institutions, companies, associations, creative collectives and other organizations will participate approximately 3,000 participants.
