A man had to be removed from the Sloterplas by the fire brigade tonight. He was taken to hospital with symptoms of hypothermia.

That happened around 8.45 pm. According to bystanders, the man was sitting on a fence with a woman and accidentally fell into the water. It would have been a first date.
Officers threw a rope into the water and the fire brigade was called. Two ambulances and a mobile medical trauma stream also came to the North side.
The fire brigade put a ladder in the water and a firefighter helped him up the ladder. To prevent further hypothermia, a fire department spokesman said he had to take off his clothes and warmed up with a special blanket.
He was taken by ambulance personnel.
