Data for hundreds of millions of facebook accounts (533 million users from around the world, including 2.6 million people from Poland) was published on Saturday on one of the free hacking forums – says Business Insider. They include, among others username, telephone number, place of birth, and sometimes also an e-mail address, date of account creation or place of residence specified by the user.

“Security experts warn that they can be used by hackers to impersonate other people and scams,” reports Business Insider. A Facebook spokesman, quoted by the portal, announced that the data had been stolen by hackers who had exploited a “vulnerability in the system”.

The data relates to information posted on Facebook a few years ago. For the first time, a leak was reported in January this year. At that time, however, the data was not available online – until now, when it found its way to the hacker forum.

How to check if our data may have leaked? “Wyborcza Business” informs that you can check if our e-mail address was among any of the reported data leaks. “This can be done through the site Have I been pwned created by Troy Hunt, Microsoft’s regional director. This service will indicate if a given e-mail address has been released to the network and from which services it has leaked “- says” GW “. It also indicates to preventively change the Facebook password and enable two-step verification.
