Data Breach at Financial Service Providers: Hackers Steal User Information from AOK, Barmer, Deutsche Bank, and More

Hackers have successfully stolen data from users at various financial service providers. These include AOK, Barmer, Deutsche Bank, Postbank, Provincial and the comparison portal Verivox. About it reports the consumer center North Rhine-Westphaliawhich has some letters from suppliers to their customers on this subject.

The vulnerability is said to have occurred at one of the company’s service providers. In some communications, the “Moveit” software of a service provider is specifically mentioned, the consumer advice center continues.

It is said that the hackers tapped data such as name, date of birth, address, tax identification number and also IBANs. The consumer advice center therefore warns against fraudulent e-mails (phishing) and SMS (smishing) or telephone calls (vishing). These contact attempts could be very convincing because of the personal data that the criminals were able to loot. To be on the safe side, users should change their passwords when accessing offers from the companies concerned.
