The bypass for Groß-Bieberau in the course of the B38 and expansion of the B45 between Dieburg and Groß-Umstadt are being pushed ahead.

The Darmstadt-Dieburger District Administrator Klaus Peter Schellhaas (SPD) speaks of “good news” for many thousands of commuters: Together with the State of Hesse, the cities of Groß-Bieberau, Groß-Umstadt, Dieburg and the Odenwaldkreis, the Darmstadt- Dieburg drawing up planning agreements for the bypass around Groß-Bieberau through the B38 and the expansion of the B45 between Dieburg and Groß-Umstadt. In a next step, the agreements are to be submitted to the responsible bodies for decision-making, according to a message from the district administration in Darmstadt.

After the resolution has been passed, the further procedural steps can then be initiated. Initially, it is planned to tender the technical project control. The cost here for carry the land.

Both federal highways are important traffic axes that connect the city of Darmstadt with the Odenwald. There is a lot of traffic on both roads. Commuters are stuck in traffic every day in front of and in Groß-Bieberau and between Dieburg and Groß-Umstadt. For a long time, there have been calls to relieve the main traffic axes. The client for the construction of the bypass and the expansion of the B45 is the district of Darmstadt-Dieburg. The process is supported by the state authority Hessen Mobil.

The Darmstadt-Dieburger district administrator and roundabout head Klaus Peter Schellhaas (SPD) admitted, however, that it would take “a few more years” before the two road construction projects were realized. Schellhaas did not provide a specific schedule.
