Dark Mode and Hashtag Insights: YouTube Studio

This Week at YouTube: The platform is rolling out some interesting features for users. This includes the long-awaited dark mode and two functions that should make their work easier for creators.

YouTube can now look back on a proud 16 years – an eternity in Internet times. But the video platform remains one of the most relevant to this day. Not least because new features and monetization options are constantly being rolled out. Even now the company has some innovations announcedconcerning the YouTube Studio. This includes dark mode, a mentions tab and hashtag insights.

Dark Mode for the YouTube Studio is rolling out

Numerous apps and platforms now offer dark mode. Many users prefer this design over the bright one that is set by default on YouTube. A few weeks ago, Conor Kavanagh from YouTube announced the dark mode, now the feature has officially rolled out. Users can select and activate this in the YouTube Studio settings.

Hashtag suggestions and insights

Instagram users should already know a second innovation for the studio. New hashtag suggestions and insights are now being rolled out for mobile and desktop. If a user starts adding hashtags to a video, YouTube will make suggestions that start with the same letter. In addition, users can find out in the suggestion list how often the hashtag has already been used and how many channels are associated with the hashtag.

This data can help creators decide which hashtags to add to their videos. Finally, the list shows popular tags. But at the same time, hashtags that are used too often can be sorted out in this way. Because even on YouTube, the hashtag with the largest volume does not necessarily make the most sense.

Mentions in a practical overview

The third big change should especially please creators who want to keep an eye on where their community is. In the comments section, YouTube is adding a mentions tab. Creators can use this to easily see where their followers have mentioned them. In particular, Shorts, YouTube’s TikTok clone, has been a major contributor to creators being tagged. With the new overview, which keeps comments and mentions separate, you can keep track of it. In addition to these features, YouTube has a few smaller updates ready, which Kavanagh explains in more detail in the video on the Creator Insider Channel.
