Danny Blind is again a member of the Supervisory Board of Ajax. An Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGM) took place on Wednesday morning and during that meeting Blind was nominated as a supervisory director. The return of the born Zeelander to the Amsterdam club is therefore a fact.
Blind was previously a commissioner at Ajax. He did this from April 23, 2018 to August 4, 2021. In 2021, Blind was appointed as assistant national coach, so that – to prevent possible conflicts of interest – he was no longer part of the Supervisory Board of Ajax from August 2021. Since then, the technical part in the Supervisory Board of Ajax has been taken care of by Adrie Koster (as advisor) and Jan van Halst.
Ajax has now once again chosen Blind and his nomination is particularly motivated by his knowledge and experience in the field of football in numerous positions. Blind has been a player, trainer, head of youth training and director at Ajax. In the past, he was also national coach and assistant national coach of the Dutch national team. Blind is also a board member and ambassador for the Muscles for Muscles foundation and ambassador for the Not Blind Foundation and the Food Bank. He is also a football analyst at Ziggo Sport.
Blind was appointed for a period of four years. He will therefore be a supervisory director at Ajax until the annual general meeting of shareholders in 2027. In the past, Blind formed a successful triangle with then director of football affairs Marc Overmars and then head coach Erik ten Hag.
Ajax’s Supervisory Board now consists of six people
While Ajax’s Supervisory Board often had five people in the past, the Amsterdam club’s body now has six people. That is a conscious choice by the club. In addition to Blind, Ajax’s Supervisory Board consists of Michael van Praag (chairman), Leo van Wijk, Annette Mosman, Georgette Schlick and Cees van Oevelen.
