Dallas Mavericks traden Josh Richardson zu den Boston Celtics

The Dallas Mavericks have traded Josh Richardson to the Boston Celtics. The move saves the Texans money and could now sign a big name in the Free Agency.

Richardson pulled his $ 11.6 million player option and was immediately traded to Boston. Dallas does not get any equivalent for this, however, as the Celtics were able to include the Shooting Guard in their trade exception, which they created last November through the sign-and-trade deal for Gordon Hayward (Charlotte Hornets).

It was the second deal of the day for the Celticsafter they had previously deported Tristan Thompson to Sacramento in a three-team trade and received from Atlanta Guard Kris Dunn, Center Bruno Fernando and a second round pick for the year 2023.

Dallas could thus have around $ 33 million in cap space by August 2, the start of the Free Agency, and thus sign a big name. Most traded is Kyle Lowry from the Toronto Raptors, the 35-year-old is a free agent and could be the required point guard for Dallas.

Richardson joined the Mavericks on Draft Day 2020 via Trade from Philadelphia, but never fully lived up to expectations. The 27-year-old posted an average of 12.1 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 59 games, with throwing rates of 42.7 percent from the field and 33.0 percent from the triple line.
