On Sunday, the Slovak representative Štefan Svitko moved to the 12th place in the overall classification of the motorcyclists’ competition at this year’s edition of the Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia.

Thirty-nine-year-old Žaškovčan was in 33rd position after Saturday’s prologue, as he had problems with a roadbook, but on Sunday he reached the eleventh best time (+17: 41 min) and moved into the second ten.

As on Saturday and Sunday, the Australian Daniel Sanders triumphed, behind whom Svitko currently lags behind by 28:36 min. The second place was kept by the Chinese Pablo Quintanilla, who loses 3:07 minutes to the leader, the third is the continuous Matthias Walkner from Austria (+11: 06 minutes).

The defender of the championship a year ago, Kevin Benavides from Argentina, dropped to 14th place after the 4th position on Saturday.

On Sunday, the riders completed a total of 514 kilometers, of which 333 km were measured. The start and finish were in Ha’il. 86 motorcyclists have already completed the track.

The stage was challenging, several riders managed to get lost:

Laisvydas Kancius from Lithuania is the current leader in the ATV competition, the defending champion Manuel Andújar from Argentina has dropped to 10th position after the triumph in Saturday’s prologue.

As on Saturday and Sunday, the best Nasser Al-Attiyah from Qatar was among the cars, the second is the Frenchman Sébastien Loeb in the incomplete ranking and the third is the Czech Martin Prokop. So far, only 13 cars have completed the prescribed measured section and the results do not include the second Frenchman Carlos Sainz, the third South Africans Brian Baragwanath or the Czech Miroslav Zapletal with the Slovak co-driver Marek Sýkor.

In the truck competition, all the machines are still on the track, part of the crew of the Hungarian Zsolt Darászi is also the Slovak Ľubomír Palčo.
