Slovakian motorcycle racer Štefan Svitko took fourteenth place in Saturday’s prologue of this year’s Dakar Rally.
His compatriot Juraj Varga finished thirteenth in his first stage at this event in the four wheel category. Svitko was nineteen seconds slower than winner Toby Price from Australia over the thirteen kilometer course.
The Slovakian veteran started the prestigious desert rally for the fourteenth time. He got his best result seven years ago when he was second overall and took his only stage win so far.
Varga became the first Slovak to start the Dakar in the four-wheel category and lost 46 seconds to French winner Alexandre Giroud.
