In the centenary of Daile Theater, the album “A Touch of Daile” contains 15 melodies composed for the performances of maestro Raimonds Pauls in piano versions specially created by the author, the theater representative Marko Rass informed.
Celebrating the successful collaboration and looking forward to the 85th anniversary of the maestro, “Dailes touch” has been released in both CD and vinyl format, which will be released in a limited number of 500 copies, the first 50 of which were signed by Paul.
Rass noted that for more than half a century, the maestro’s collaboration with the Daile Theater, which began in 1966, was creating music for the show “Filma top…”. The album features melodies from such legendary performances as “A Short Guide to Loving”, “Brands”, “Sherlock Holmes”, “Elizabeth, Queen of England”, “Swans of the Forest”, “Caligula” and other Daile Theater productions.
In the introductory words of the album, musicologist, director of “Latvijas Radio 3” Klasika “” Gunda Vaivode writes that this maestro’s recording is a procession alone. “Without make-up, the support of colleagues and the clumsiness of the actors, but with the smell of the stage, like a slightly veiled touch of Daile’s time, which has lost its borders. It does not dress up for comparison and conquering new peaks.
The recording was made in the 1st studio of “Latvijas Radio” in April 2020. The sound recording and processing was performed by Gustavs Ehrenpreiss, the sound post-processing was corrected by Mikkel Gemzole in the “Varibeat Audio” studio in Denmark. The producer of the recording is Juris Vaivods, but the visual design was created by the artist Miķelis Fišers.
