How was the company born?

Demos was created in 1972, we are celebrating our 50th anniversary this year. Its creation responded very clearly to the growing need of companies for professional training to support their economic development, in particular international development. Since then, Demos has always anticipated market developments and business needs. This is how, in the 1980s, Demos launched into digital, first via the Minitel, then with the first e-learning modules and demostraining.com, the first European B to B distance training platform, and SkillsEval, an online skills management tool.

The company developed rapidly and relied on external growth: acquisitions of Médiacursus, the Revue d’Etudes, MindonSite (MOS), STS and Elearning Agency. At the same time, Demos has established itself in a sustainable way internationally with Global Estrategias in Portugal and Spain and especially Hemsley Fraser, a key player in vocational training in Great Britain and the United States.

Today Demos continues to grow, in particular thanks to its alliance with the Weidong group, one of the leaders in training in China with 130 million online learners and UNESCO’s first global partner in the field of education. .

What are your short term goals?

In the short and medium term, each organization, each individual faces major challenges linked to the digital, ecological, energy and societal revolution which is overturning benchmarks and distorting perspectives. In this context, the social body, if it wants to avoid downgrading, needs to acquire the essential capacities to adapt in real time to these permanent evolutions. This phenomenon, amplified and accelerated by the global health crisis, arises at the individual and collective level. The post-crisis context of strong economic recovery also leads to a massive and rapid need for skills for greater competitiveness. Many professions are also in tension.

Demos’ raison d’être is to support these collective transitions and to solve the equation of individual retraining alongside organizations, with the aim of preserving employment and strengthening social cohesion. Our teams are working to facilitate accessibility and the acquisition of the new skills expected in this new world, by securing career paths. We are working to offer the market new training courses that correspond to these new needs, such as hybrid management, remote business development and CSR.
