DACO freezes the prices of necessities for the coronavirus



The Department of Consumer Affairs (DACO) froze today, Friday, the prices of the necessities before the potential of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic that warned the World Health Organization (WHO).

The agency explained that the articles established under the order 2020-005 may not reflect increases in their prices, throughout the island, until Secretary Carmen Salgado Rodríguez issues a new order decreeing the termination.

The official explained that the order includes any product, service, material, supply, equipment and any item that is subject to trade that is likely to be sold, leased or rented and that its consumption or use is necessary during the emergency.

The items under the freeze order are:

– Antibacterials

– Personal disinfection items

– Tissues

– Masks

– Isopropyl alcohol

– Disinfectants and antiseptics

– Articles for disinfection and / or household cleaning

– Vinyl gloves

– Pain relievers and medications with acetaminophen or ibuprofen

– Anticatarrhal medications, including antihistamines

– Any other item or service that a communicator may reasonably need to prepare or recover from the emergency situation.

DACO warned that violations of the order could carry penalties of up to $ 10,000 for each violation.
