Three new records were set in the morning of the first day of the competition, two of which were from Group B of Diocesan Boys’ School . On the morning of the first day, there was a new record in the men’s B Grade javelin in Tianxiang. Huang Yiqian, who was in the men’s draw, threw 58.50 meters in the fifth attempt, breaking the La Salle College by Qian Shouzheng in the 2016-2017 school year with a distance of 1.59 meters. under the old record. Huang Yiqian failed to advance the record in the sixth throw, and finally won the gold medal with this result.

The fourth-form junior was a member of the school badminton team, and was later spotted by his teacher to play track and field: “The teacher saw that I was good at smashing waves, so he asked me to try the javelin. I have been practicing for more than a year now.” He continued pointing to the confrontation I am happy with the record, but I think there is room for improvement in my performance: “I set my goal of 60 meters, and I can perform better today. In the past few months, I stopped practicing badminton to prepare for the competition. The training was very hard, so I am very happy to break the record.” Huang Yiqian pointed out that he will continue to develop in two lines in the future, and hopes that he will be promoted to A Grade next year to break the javelin record held by Lin Mingyao, a male senior and former Hong Kong team representative.

Another male B Grade player, Wang Nuohong, also broke the record in the morning. This young middle-distance runner who set the only record in the C Grade 1500m final of last year’s competition with a time of 4:25.31 will break the record when he is promoted to B Grade this year. In the first group of the 1500-meter preliminary race “walking alone”, he ran 4 minutes 10 seconds 65, faster than the old record of 1 second 42 made in the 2015-2016 school year, and the first place in the total score advanced to the final on the third day.

After the game, Wang Nuohong pointed out that breaking the record this time has a different feeling from last year: “Last year, my PB (personal best) was faster than the record, so I really hope it can be done. This year is unexpected, and the PB itself is slower than the record. 6 seconds, I am very satisfied with the result.” He said that this year’s speed and endurance have improved compared with previous years, and he hopes to continue to catch up with the goal, challenge the record, and break the PB in another event of 800 meters.

In the A Grade 1500m preliminary race, Zhou Kaiyang from Wah Yan College in Kowloon ran 4 minutes 07 seconds 93 first place in the first group “walking alone”, only 1 second 70 seconds slower than the record; the same group of men’s triathlon Hong Kong Qingzixuan and Yu Zhenqiang Memorial Secondary School Xu Hongzhang ran 4:20.15 and 4:21.96 respectively, ranking third and fourth in total. In the other group, Zhu Luoyan, the Hong Kong youth record holder in the men’s 800m race, crossed the finish line first with 4 points and 17th and was 51st. He ranked second in the total score and advanced to the final on the third day.
