“Czechs Flock to Biedronka in Poland for Cheap Beer Promotion: 12+12 Free Deal Draws International Attention”

We have written about the Polish Biedronka several times. The cheapest store in Poland is a favorite destination for many Czechs who go shopping for cheap. It is worth buying almost everything, and it is no longer the case that only those who live a few kilometers from our neighbors go to Poland. Biedronka has now come up with an event that was valid for two days, but faced a great rush of shoppers. It was beer.

The 12+12 free beers promotion applied to several brands and sixteen different types of beers. For example, Carlsberg, Desperados, Heineken, Lech, Somersby or Pilsner Urquell. One customer could take away a maximum of 24 bottles. Beer could only be bought this cheaply on the last Friday and Saturday in April. And in addition with a loyalty card for customers.

But Czechs can also have it here.

Biedronka’s press spokesman Jakub Mazur told PrahaIN.cz that Czechs made up fifty percent of the foreign clientele last November. There are also information boards in our mother tongue in shops.

Our Prague reader and his family also wanted to buy cheap beer. He failed. He visited six supermarket branches, but he couldn’t find Pilsner beer anywhere.

Twenty-four bottles of Pilsen beer cost 83.88 zlotys, which is 431 Czech crowns at the exchange rate of May 3. One bottle cost less than 18 crowns. In the Czech Republic, it is around thirty crowns.

Return the bottles to us

The family went to the town of Kudowa Zdrój, where there are around ten branches of Biedronka.

“We didn’t leave very early, so we didn’t have any beer left. But the wife was satisfied, she filled a full basket and said that the differences are really huge,” he adds.

He wanted to buy as much as possible. 72 bottles of beer in three people. They would save about nine hundred crowns.

We noticed a discussion on social media where people were sharing tips on how to save even more.

In Poland, for example, there is no backup glass. “When you return the bottles to us, they normally buy them back for three crowns. Then a bottle will cost less than 15 crowns, and that’s a really great price,” wrote one of the discussants.

It should be noted that the flyer stated that this is an event only while supplies last. However, we cannot find out how many bottles of beer went on sale, Biedronka referred us to a note “about the listed stocks”.

We also looked at her social networks. Customers there mentioned that the deals “are great in the newspaper, but you don’t often find them in the store”. We also discovered a mention that some beer was deliberately increased in price a few days before the event to make the discount look better.
