The Jupiler Pro League is no stranger to Cyriel Dessers. At a young age he did not succeed in attracting attention at Lokeren and OH Leuven. In the Netherlands he came to full maturity, first at NAC then Utrecht and finally at Heracles, with which he became top scorer in the Eredivsie last season.
“After 4 years I have to get to know the competition again, but I think that is just a very nice challenge. I am convinced that I will score a lot and give assists.”
Dessers grew up in Limburg’s Heers and was a supporter of Genk at a young age. He still has a shirt from Wesley Sonck. “Since I saw Genk champion with Sonck, Dagano and Skoko 18 years ago and I saw Sonck score in the CL against Real Madrid, it has been a dream to play for Genk.”
“As a seven year old boy I also tested here, but unfortunately I did not get in. There have been a few moments when we came closer in terms of level, but the timing must also be perfect. Now it is for myself and the club a good time. “
