“Cyclonic Circulation Likely to Develop Over Southeast Bay of Bengal: Weather Alert by IMD”

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas as a cyclonic circulation is likely to develop around May 6, leading to a low-pressure formation around May 7. The system is expected to turn into a depression on May 8, and then intensify into a cyclonic storm while moving northwards towards the central Bay of Bengal. Fishermen are advised not to visit the Southeast and Bay of Bengal from May 7 onwards. Squally weather with wind speed reaching up to 60 kmph is expected to prevail over the southeast Bay of Bengal, Andaman, and Nicobar Islands and Andaman Sea on May 7. The wind speed would gradually increase, becoming 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph over southeast Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands during May 8-9. The IMD is monitoring the system regularly for further updates.
