In fact, the man is known to have experience riding a road bike and cycling almost every day. It is suspected that he was tired while cycling on the Kampung Melayu-Tanah Abang JLNT.

What exactly causes a heart attack while cycling? According to the Indonesian Heart Foundation, a heart attack while cycling is a blockage of blood flow to the heart, thereby stopping the supply of oxygen to the heart. As a result, cardiac arrest occurs, namely the disruption of blood pumping to the heart.

Then, how to do cycling that is healthy for the heart and not increase the risk of a heart attack?

The Indonesian Heart Foundation said that cyclists should undergo cycling activities in stages considering FITT (frequency, intensity, time, and type). In addition, cyclists must pay attention to their heart rate. How to measure it?

How to measure the maximum heart rate is 220 minus age (current age). For example, if you are 38 years old, your maximum heart rate is 220 – 38 = 182 bpm.
Then, also pay attention to the intensity of exercise like this:

– Moderate exercise intensity: 50 – 70 percent of maximum heart rate.

-Strong exercise intensity: 70 – 85 percent of maximum heart rate.

“Other tips, so that the heart rate does not exceed the maximum limit, cyclists should increase the intensity gradually, applies during warm-up and cool-down,” wrote their booklet.
