“Cyberpunk 2077” premiere. One million players on Steam. How many orders have they placed?

The premiere of the long-awaited game “Cyberpunk 2077” on the PC and on digital services took place on Thursday simultaneously in all countries at 1:00 am Polish time, while the premiere on PlayStation and Xbox consoles – in each country at midnight local time.

On Thursday morning, CD Project reported that players had placed 8 million pre-orders by December 9. This figure includes data from digital distribution platforms as well as data collected from physical distributors.

How much can CD Projekt earn on its flagship product? Hopes related to the game, which have been waiting for many years not only in Poland but also in the world, are high.

Analysts of Dom Maklerski BOŚ in their forecasts from November assume that 21 million copies of the game will be sold by the end of 2020. They also estimate that the number of copies sold will increase to 34.5 million within 12 months after the premiere.

The game is rated very positively – on the Metacritic portal it received a rating of 91 out of 100. Reviewers point to a large, fascinatingly complex universe. On the other hand, the versions that have been played so far had a lot of bugs. CD Projekt announced updates.

Investors are also aware of the fact that the bar is high. On Wednesday before noon, CD Projekt shares were up to 3 percent cheaper. They could be bought on the stock exchange for just over PLN 383. It is worth noting that the shares were trading at PLN 464 apiece on Monday and it was a record valuation. On Thursday morning, the share price is close to PLN 390.
