The CUT asked the Government to consider the criteria of the Guaranteed Minimum Income as parameter for a readjustment to legal minimum wage. In small and medium-sized companies, leaders warn that the conditions are not in place for readjustment, and the priority is, for now, to survive the crisis.

Three weeks have passed since the beginning of negotiations for an adjustment to the legal minimum wage between the Unitary Central of Workers and the Treasury.

Although the discussion has been focused on the protection and recovery of jobs and how it is configured with the Executive’s economic reactivation programs, the CUT on Friday made a more concrete approach to its expectations.

The president of the multisindical, Bárbara Figueroa, considered that, although they intend to agree on a labor policy beyond the figure, the readjustment of wages should consider the same basic parameters as fiscal contributions such as the Emergency Family Income or the Guaranteed Minimum Income.

In small and medium-sized enterprises, the President of Conapyme, Germán Dastres, He argued that an adjustment beyond what corresponds to inflation would be out of context, taking into account the critical situation that many companies are going through.

For his part, economist and researcher at Libertad y Desarrollo, Felipe Berger, He pointed out that comparing temporary and permanent contributions is not a good way to go in a scenario of fiscal tightness, and an adjustment of that magnitude would have negative effects on employment.

The discussion should be settled next week, when the Ministry of Finance gives a response to the CUT’s proposal.

He current minimum wage of $ 319,000 It is in force until September, so before that month a proposal must be submitted to Congress.
