In the Odessa region, at the customs office, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) uncovered and blocked a corruption scheme, thanks to which the attackers profited from about 200 thousand US dollars a month.

The criminal scheme was uncovered at the Odessa customs. Its organizers demanded bribes for “expedited” and unhindered customs clearance of cars from the United States of America and South Korea.
According to preliminary data, the “scheme” was organized by the acting head of one of the customs posts of the Odessa customs.
He performed such actions (demanding bribes) systematically. I took money from both individuals and legal entities.
For this money, he provided customs clearance of vehicles within 4 hours. In case of refusal, the registration was delayed up to two weeks, and its cost was overstated.
The price for “hassle-free” customs clearance was approximately US $ 50, depending on the car brand.
According to preliminary estimates, more than 8 thousand vehicles passed through the “scheme” monthly. At the same time, bribes were paid by 80% of the clients of this customs post.
Law enforcement officers caught the suspect “hot” when he received another “payment” for “services.” Earlier, SBU officers documented the receipt of the first part of the illegal benefit in the amount of $ 700 from the same entity.
