Curtis, the dog who accompanied Elisa Pilarski (29) on the day of her death in Retz forest, Aisne, is still under judicial requisition in Beauvais. A kitty has been created to defend the animal, a gesture that touches the young woman’s companion, Christophe.

Curtis is “a dog under judicial requisition”, as our colleagues from The union. It is the legal term used by the company in charge of the impound of Beauvais where the dog which accompanied Élisa Pilarski, the day of her death in forest of Retz, was placed since the facts of November 16. The young woman (29 years old), who was 6 months pregnant, had died in appalling circumstances, attacked by several dogs. Given the secrecy of the investigation, the private company – which has existed for more than twenty-five years and which is regularly seized by the courts for this kind of mission – does not communicate on the file.
Curtis is not allowed to go out or be seen
Our French colleagues from L’Union just learned that Curtis, an american staff, would be fine and not in distress. He would however be subject to special treatment with regard to this requisition: he is not allowed to go out, to be seen. It must be protected from the outside and must not be handled. In addition, the animal must undergo a behavioral evaluation without knowing exactly when it should be carried out.
Worried about the fate that can be reserved for the dog, relatives of Christophe Ellul, the spouse of Élisa Pilarski, have created a kitty with the latter’s agreement. Credited this Monday with a little more than 3000 euros, it is relayed on the Facebook page “Tribute and justice for Élisa Pilarski”: “We are facing a lack of information concerning him and that pushes us to remobilize for him” , indicates this friend of Christophe Ellul.
The companion reacts: “This surge of solidarity touches us in these difficult times”
For the defenders of the animal cause, it is a question of making hear the voice of Curtis, not considered as a living being but as an element of the file, an object under seal: “Curtis still could not be taken care of properly. Knowing that life is at stake, we can no longer remain silent. Curtis has rights and we plan to have them heard with the help of an animal lawyer. Our doubts are about Curtis’ psychological state, having lost all his bearings, experienced a heavy trauma, confined in a box surrounded by dogs that bark all day long… how can we hope for an objective evaluation in such a context. “
On his personal page, Christophe Ellul says: “This surge of solidarity touches us in these difficult times and I thank all those involved. We will be completely transparent about the use of this pot. It won’t make my wife and son come back, but it will help Curtis immensely, and I know she would have wanted to … “
