Curry broke the NBA record for triples; Brooklyn and Phoenix suffered to win

Brooklyn Nets and Phoenix Suns needed extra time to defeat the Toronto Raptors and Portland Trail Blazers, respectively, on a day in which Stephen Curry took the NBA record for 3-pointers in the Golden State Warriors’ victory over the New York Knicks by 105 -96.

Golden State Warriors beat New York Knicks 105-96 at Madison Square Garden in un game dominated by two 3-pointers by Stephen Curry that allowed him to become the NBA’s all-time leader in 3-pointers made by beating Ray Allen’s previous record of 2,973.

Curry finished the game with 5 3-pointers of 14 attempts which puts him with a total of 2,977 shots of three in his entire career.

With 4.30 minutes to go, Curry scored his second triple of the day and finally surpassed the record of 2,973 set by Ray Allen, who retired in 2014. Curry, who scored his first triple in the NBA on October 30, 2009 , has surpassed Allen’s number in 789 games while Ray Allen needed 1,300 to reach 2,973 3-pointers.

The top scorer of the game was Knicks power forward Julius Randle who had 31 points (25 in the second half), 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.

In the Warriors, Curry was the leader in points, with 22, in addition to 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 block. Curry scored 5 of the 14 3-pointers he tried.

The forward had a triple-double of 34 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists, while Mills scored 30 in a 131-129 overtime win. In Toronto, VanVleet had an outstanding performance with 31 points and 9 assists.

The Nets faced the Raptors with seven fewer players per NBA covid protocols, including James Harden and LaMarcus Aldridge, forcing Kevin Durant to play a game that was originally going to be taken to rest.

And Durant, along with Patty Mills, who scored the triple that forced overtime, was instrumental in the Nets’ victory over the Raptors. The Nets star had a triple-double with 34 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists.

Mills also had a good night, with 30 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. All five Nets starters finished the game with 10 or more points on their roster.

In the Raptors, point guard Fred VanVleet stood out with 31 points, 4 rebounds, 9 assists and 2 steals. Additionally, Gary Trent Jr., Pascal Siakam and Scottie Barnes scored more than 20 points. Rookie Barnes again had an outstanding night with a double-double of 23 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists.

The Raptors are in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, tied for wins with the 10th Atlanta Hawks, who are in last place in the play-in.

Chris Paul (24 points, 14 assists and 8 rebounds) and DeAndre Ayton (28 points and 13 rebounds) were the great highlights in the overtime victory. In Portland, Lillard played a great game: 31 points and 10 assists.

The duel between Damian Lillard (Blazers) and Chris Paul (Suns) was not resolved until the last seconds of the game after an overtime dominated by the Phoenix point guard that ended the game with a double-double of 24 points and 14 assists, in addition to 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
