Covid-19 has also been reported recently in other healthcare settings. Rinalds Muciņš, Chairman of the Board of Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital, told Latvian Radio that 47 patients of the medical institution had been diagnosed with Covid-19 or had the status of a contact person.

Kuciņš admitted that 17 of them were diagnosed with Covid-19, but 30 medical staff had the status of a contact person.

In an interview with TV3, Imants Paeglītis, Chairman of the Board of Riga East Clinical University Hospital, said that 14 employees of the institution had Covid-19, but 34 were in quarantine.

He stressed that any spread of Covid-19 within the hospital has so far been limited. “No distribution chain has been identified in the hospital,” Paeglītis emphasized.
