*TORTILLER / CORNELOUP « Singing fellows »

Rooted in a longstanding bond, this duo cultivates in all friendship an authentically shared taste for simple and generous lyricism. A few melodies, bright or captivating, are the common thread of an exchange where improvisation infuses total freedom of play, where the audacity of rhythm galvanizes the reunion of two soloists for a jubilation of dance, harmony, encounter, breath and percussion.It then became obvious that Franck Tortiller and François Corneloup are coming together for the first time on the stage of our festival.

*BEX’TET

Emmanuel Bex (Hammond organ, Keytar, accordion) chose the trio formula with Antonin Fresson (electric and acoustic guitars) and his son Tristan Bex (drums, Cajon).

*Moutin factory Quintet

Chicago, Saint Louis, Memphis, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, so many mythical places for jazz musicians, strongly inspired the Moutin brothers and lit an inextinguishable fire in them. All this music sprang from the joys, sufferings, hopes and wanderings intimately linked to the invention of a “new world” and it is no coincidence that the Mississippi River – a key point of view historical, social and economic – produced the “primal cry”. This energy, the vital forces which are expressed there, the stories and the emotions which are told there, weave the backdrop of “Mythical River”. In complicity with their so talented partners François and Louis Moutin speak to us with intensity of human bond, fraternity, sharing, respect for others. All this gives rise to this magnificent artistic project “Mythical river” which will be on the Jazzpote stage on July 9th.

* Lars DANIELSSON «Liberetto III»

Lars Danielsson’s jazz is neither intellectual nor conceptual: it is sung, wrapped in pure acoustics and assumes its global format. “Lars Danielsson has a knack for forming great bands,” Stuart Nicholson wrote in Jazzwise in 2014.
Liberetto is above all a quartet which works on sound and timbres. There is something magical and enchanting in this high altitude music, very melodic, a little soaring, but at the same time bursting with energy, in particular because it has two tigers in its engine, Grégory Privat at the piano, and Magnus Öström, former EST on drums. Magnificent quartet for a magnificent concert!

*Daniel ERDMANN’S « Velvet Revolution »

Co-founder and member of Das Kapital “Jazzpote 2013 shock concert” Daniel Erdmann has established himself on the international stages as one of the most inventive soloists. His latest project: a saxophone, violin, vibraphone trio, is undoubtedly a daring combination. The subject suggests a color of sound, intimacy, dynamism, improvisations.
Daniel Erdmann is accompanied by musicians who have already marked the European stages, since they are Jim Hart and Théo Ceccaldi.
“Concert shock Jazzpote 2021”? We take the bets.

*TROPICAL JAZZ TRIO

The French double bassist Patrice Caratini (Chet Baker, Kenny Clarke, Dizzy Gillespie, Stéphane Grappelli, Lee Konitz, Martial Solal … and leader of the Caratini Jazz Ensemble), the pianist of Guadeloupe origin Alain Jean-Marie (Chet Baker, Art Farmer, Bill Coleman and Dee Dee Bridgewater…) and percussionist Roger Raspail (one of the great masters of West Indian percussion) have known each other for 40 years. In addition to their complicity within various ensembles, from time to time, they like to play in trios in search of the African roots of the music they love.
And it is therefore on the side of Africa that this 16th edition will end with these three icons which will have profoundly marked the history of jazz.
