The excellent run-and-gun game Cuphead finally arrives on the PlayStation 4 console today, after having been a huge success on Xbox, Switch and PC / Mac.
Studio MDHR has announced Cuphead’s arrival on PS4 as part of Summer Game Fest, the video game festival hosted by Geoff Keighley. The unveiling was done with a beautiful stop motion video, designed in collaboration with Stop Motion Department.
Cuphead, released in 2017, was developed by Canadian studio MDHR. The game, known for its retro graphics and sometimes overwhelming difficulty, had received overwhelmingly positive reviews on PC and on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch consoles.
In an interview with Geoff Keighley, Maja Moldenhauer of Studio MDHR confirmed that Cuphead’s DLC, “The Delicious Last Course”, will be released on all platforms. Moldenhauer, however, admitted that this expansion, which was due to come out last year, is taking longer than expected to develop and that it may have even been announced a little too early. It’s a refreshing transparency and rather rare in the video game industry!
An animated series The Cuphead Show! is in development for Netflix, but no release date has yet been released.
