The Cuban Christian Manuel Castellano Rangel, only 21 years old, broke the Guinness Record in the specialty of squeezing cans with his back by crushing 84 cans of beer in just one minute, using his scapulae.
According to the official newspaper Juventud Rebelde, the unusual brand, for which he trained for more than 12 months, was obtained at the facilities of the Hotel Don Florencio, located in the city of Sancti Spíritus. There, the local workers conspired to lend the Cuban some 91 empty Heineken beer cans so that he could pour them with his back.
Castellano Rangel leaned on a friend who placed the upper ones between his scapulae while he made a contraction movement to reduce the size of the containers made of aluminum. The entire attempt was recorded and 60 seconds into the exercise he was able to surpass the current mark of 69, held by the American Fabrizio Milito.
The Cuban promised that “this begins now” as foreshadowing that he will try to break the new records set by other people in the world. At the same time, he thanked all those who trusted him and have promoted him in his beginnings in the activity.
“I was training hard, always taking care not to hurt my back. I run, do planks and sit-ups. I am able to bend my shoulders, knees, fingers and toes to unexpected positions and I do not feel pain, “he explained.
Guinness World Records are an organization that since 1955 lists achievements and milestones of both humans and animals that are considered unique. The popularity of these records has made them the leading international authority on cataloging and verifying the world’s most incredible feats.
