The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported this Tuesday on the donation of 458,000 doses of Sovereign 02 vaccines against the Covid-19 pandemic to the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).

The Cuban Foreign Ministry indicated that the immunizing doses, which will be distributed to inoculate the population between two and 18 years of age, arrived this Tuesday morning at the Algerian Houari Boumedienne International Airport for subsequent transfer to the country.
The pharmaceutical donation was received by the Cuban ambassador to Algeria, Armando Vergara Bueno, and the Chargé d’Affaires of the SADR Embassy in Algiers, Cheikh M’Hamed.
“This modest contribution from Cuba is an expression of historic relations of brotherhood and solidarity that unite our peoples and governments,” Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez emphasized.
The Cuban ambassador to Algeria valued that “this donation represents a gift from Cuba to the Saharawi State and its struggling people, as a sign of the strong relations of brotherhood and solidarity.”

The Sovereign 02 vaccine, according to the Finlay Vaccine Institute, has 91.2 percent efficacy against symptomatic disease, 100 percent against symptomatic disease and death, as well as 75.7 percent against infection .
