CSKA has no plans to renew the contract with defender Georgy Shchennikov. About it TASS said the general director of the club Roman Babaev.

“Unfortunately, we see that the amount of playing time that Zhora has now does not objectively correspond to his level. Another thing is that there are objective reasons in the form of competition and so on. Therefore, it is obvious that Joret, if he intends to continue his football career, must find an option where he would play, and not sit on the bench. At the moment, I do not see any prerequisites for extending the contract,” Babayev said.

Shchennikov’s agent Sergei Pushkin declared “Sport-Express” that the player does not plan to end his career. “He is only 31 years old. I think time will tell. Now he has no injuries. I think that he still has enough strength to play, ”Pushkin said.

This season, Shchennikov has played only five matches for CSKA in all competitions.

Shchennikov is the son of four-time world champion and silver medalist of the 1996 Atlanta Olympics in race walking Mikhail Shchennikov. A graduate of CSKA, he has been playing for the main team since 2008.
