Crytek postpones Crysis Remastered after criticism of leaked trailer – gaming – news

Earning as much as possible with minimal effort is not wrong in itself, but here the quality is (hard) hit. I don’t know the original, but when I saw the screenshots I thought of cellshading. It seems that an artificial filter has been thrown over it that gives the whole something cartoonish and further away from realism. In the link of MrRobot you also see screens where the whole image is suddenly bluer, or where nature is suddenly (over) saturated green. Reminds me a bit of filters used for photography, such as with Instagram.

In addition, I also see an effect that can be seen with (smartphone) cameras: it is so smoothed out, noise seems to be minimized that much seems to consist of artificially smooth surfaces. That gives me the feeling that the image has been adjusted to look more beautiful. I also edit photos myself, but with the aim of making it look beautiful and natural. For example, I can also apply a lot of noise reduction afterwards, which is easy to eliminate noise, but does not make the photo look more natural.

I have not played the original, but if I (as a layman?) Already see this and the many reactions I see, I would almost say that it is on purpose. And then I think of the movie with Sonic: it seems to have been consciously styled in such a way that the proportions were wrong and people complained about it consciously. Then it was adjusted after that. It was rumored that this was a ploy to get a lot of media attention, which is not unlikely. Would this also be the case here? It is very striking that the game does not meet modern graphic standards, plus it seems that (in my opinion) cheap techniques have been used on the images. Perhaps Crysis has been modernized in the background to modern standards and these images serve purely to create attention.
