Cristiano Ronaldo shoots Juventus for the ninth championship in a row

The second match ball led to the championship: Juventus won the ninth Scudetto in a row with a 2-0 (1-0) win against Sampdoria. The league leaders are now seven points ahead of Inter Milan and cannot be caught on the remaining two matchdays. Cristiano Ronaldo (45. + 7 minutes) and Federico Bernardeschi (67.) scored for Turin, Ronaldo scored a penalty in the final phase.

For Juve it is the 36th championship in Serie A, which means the record champion has won as many league titles as AC Milan and Inter Milan combined. Already because of the interruption Coronakrise in March Juve was the leader. After restarting Serie A, the Turin defended their lead.

During the week, Juventus did not take his first chance for the title in the 1-2 loss to Udinese. Juve had a hard time again. Turin had more possession at the start, but Genoa had more finishes. Fabio Quagliarella (38.) had the greatest chance, his shot in the penalty area too harmless for goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny. But shortly before the break, Juve took the lead. After a free kick, Genoa let Ronaldo out of his eyes and hit the goal from the penalty area flat right into the goal (45. + 7). It was his 31st goal of the season.

Genoa came more dangerous from the break. First Szczesny parried a free kick, then Lorenzo Tonelli headed a cross after a corner just past the goal (55 ‘). But again a Ronaldo shot led to the goal – if not directly. After a counterattack, Genoa goalkeeper Emil Audero blocked Ronaldo’s forward and Bernardeschi pushed the ball over the line to make it 2-0 (67th).

Genoa also remained dangerous behind, but Juve could rely on his goalkeeper. Szczesny parried a header from Quagliarella from a few meters (72.). Shortly thereafter, Morten Thorsby saw his second yellow card (77th) due to dangerous play and Genoa had to end the game outnumbered.

In the final phase, Fabio Depaoli fouled opponent Alex Sandro in the penalty area. However, Ronaldo shot the due penalty on the crossbar (89th), so it remained the 2-0 victory.
