Cristiano Ronaldo scores twice in Al Nassr’s victory and becomes the top scorer of 2023
Luís Castro’s Al Nassr won an important victory this Tuesday in the fight for the title in Saudi Arabia. The Riyadh team went to Jeddah to beat rivals Al Ittihad, led by Karim Benzema and Kanté, 5-2, in the match on matchday 17 of the Saudi League.
In the reunion with the Frenchman, former teammate at Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo came out on top with two goals (both from penalties), thus surpassing the numbers of Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappé this calendar year, now registering 53 goals. Talisca and Sadio Mané (2) scored the remaining goals for the team led by Luís Castro, which included Otávio (assisted Mané for the 5-2 final) among the starters.
Hamdallah, an experienced Moroccan striker, scored the two goals for Al Ittihad, who have remained without a win since the arrival of coach Marcelo Gallardo.
With this triumph, Al Nassr reduces the disadvantage to leader Al Hilal, led by Jorge Jesus, to 7 points, who visit Al Feiha’s stronghold in the next round. Luís Castro’s team travels to Al Taawon’s ground.
