Cristiano Ronaldo: CR7 holds these records

With his 110th international goal for Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo replaced Ali Daei as the record scorer in the 2-1 comeback win against Ireland – and thus broke the next record. Later he even met for the 111th time. We give an overview of the records that the Portuguese currently holds.

With a late brace, none other than Cristiano Ronaldo saved the Portuguese national team on Wednesday when Ireland was visiting Ireland on the 4th day of the World Cup qualification. After 0: 1 deficit, the five-time world footballer first scored in the 89th minute with a header to equalize, before he scored the 2-1 winner in the sixth minute of stoppage time – again with a header.

The first of the two goals of the evening was a very special one for CR7. It was the 36-year-old’s 110th international goal, with which he broke the record for most international goals that the Iranian and ex-Bayern player Ali Daei had up to that point. Gate number 111 followed a few minutes later. One of many records that the superstar can claim exclusively for himself.

But which records does Ronaldo still hold at club level and in the national team? You can find out here.

Ronaldo has now scored 111 international goals. Far from the only record in the national team. Nobody took part in a European Championship more often than he did (5), nobody was used more often in European Championship finals (25) and none scored more often in the goal in European Championship finals (14).

If you combine EM and World Cup appearances (42 appearances) as well as EM and World Cup goals (20 goals), the path leads back to the Portuguese.

In his illustrious career, Ronaldo not only shone in the national team for Portugal, but also broke records at the club as a player for Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus Turin. Especially in the most prestigious competition at club level, the Champions League, the attacker has often made history.

With a staggering 134 goals in the premier class, he is the sole record holder and has 14 more to his name than Lionel Messi. He shot 17 of these 134 alone in the 2013/14 season when he won the first of a total of four Champions League trophies with Real Madrid.

But CR7 not only celebrated successes with the royal class in the premier class. Ronaldo was also able to grab a handlebar pot with Manchester United, where he officially returned a few days ago (2007/08). Four with Madrid and one with Manchester make a total of five final victories in the Champions League – a record.

CR7 was the only one to score in every Champions League group game in a CL season and in three different Champions League finals.
