Crisis of Drug Dealers and Violence in the Center of Bucharest

The center of Bucharest is flooded with drug dealers and consumers who sell and buy in front of thousands of passers-by and locals. The police seem to be passive and take no action to solve this problem, and residents complain that acts of violence have started to multiply.

In an interview given to the Antena 3 television station, Sorin Stoicescu, the former head of Civil Aviation in Romania, revealed that the owners’ associations initiated a petition to bring to the attention of the authorities, through video recordings, the way in which young consumers of drugs began to occupy the blocks in the center of Bucharest.

He indicates that young drug users are starting to vandalize buildings in the center of Bucharest.

Sorin Stoicescu said that 14 property owners’ associations are gathering evidence for the Romanian authorities regarding incidents of violence caused by drug users in buildings in Bucharest.

He mentioned that one of these individuals attacked him with a screwdriver in the stairwell of the apartment building.

“We are obliged to go after them and you know that for me, at my age, at 70 years old, when a screwdriver touches you… it’s very difficult. These people wanted to stick a screwdriver in me from behind, but they hit the door because I dodged. I want to tell you that they are capable of much more”, declared Sorin Sotoicescu.

“Last night they looted a car here, in front, they threatened us that we keep chasing them to keep this perimeter clean. I said, come on, let’s shout at them through the window to get them to leave because they’re coming, they’re sitting here. They even made their tents here at the fountains”, Sorin Stoicescu declared on Antena 3.
