Crédit Agricole, Caisse d’Épargne, and Macif, are in the sights of the Minister of Labor

At each of their speeches, Emmanuel Macron, Jean Castex, or Olivier Véran, as well as the whole government, advocate telework as soon as the position allows it. Obviously, for example, a carpenter will have more difficulty carrying out his tasks without going to his workshop, while a bank advisor could more easily manage his customers from a workstation installed at home.

The Minister of Labor dwells on these specific cases

However, while on the surface the situation seems easy to manage, it is far from being the case. During a meeting with representatives of the French Banking Federation, French Federation of Insurance, as well as the Syntec Federation, Élisabeth Borne, the current Minister of Labor, Employment, Vocational Training and Social Dialogue , focused on the case of three institutions: Crédit Agricole, Caisse d’Épargne, and Macif.

Spotify relies on telecommuting and revolutionizes its organization

According to several participants present at this meeting, many members working within these three mutual institutions are concerned by formal notices for non-compliance with teleworking, and therefore measures taken by the government to try to curb the spread of the virus. The establishments mentioned in this article are part of a long league of 52 companies which have been put on notice for their lack of teleworking.

The sector still seems resistant to teleworking measures, but has made great progress since December. Today, nearly 63% of the 360,000 jobs in this field are teleworked. The DARES (Directorate for the Animation of Research, Studies and Statistics), which depends on the Ministry of Labor, adds that this statistic is well above the national average which is 21.2%.

It is important to specify that Crédit Agricole, Caisse d’Épargne, and therefore Macif, are the perfect example of establishments that have many branches in rural areas with few employees each time, which necessarily makes the complicated telecommuting.
