Loan balance grows in China’s Yangtze River Delta region

SHANGHAI, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) — The balance of loans in the Yangtze River Delta region stood at 58.81 trillion yuan (about 8.53 trillion U.S. dollars) at the end of January, up year-on-year of 13.7 percent.
The stock of Chinese currency-denominated loans reached 57.67 trillion yuan at the end of January, up 14.4 percent year-on-year, according to the Shanghai head office of the People’s Bank of China.
For its part, the balance of credits denominated in foreign currency was 169.2 billion dollars at the end of January in the region, which means a year-on-year decrease of 17.5 percent.
The balance of the region’s deposits was 70.52 trillion yuan at the end of January, 13 percent more than on the same date last year.
Shanghai, along with the three neighboring provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui, make up the Yangtze River Delta region. End
