BEST – This year there won’t be a big Oktoberfest in Best. The organization is putting the three days of the event in line lederhosen, Dirndl and mugs of beer, partly due to the explosive rise in energy prices.

The aptly named “Oktoberbest” would actually take place from September 30 to October 2 in tents in the parking lot of the Best Vooruit football team and the MHC Best hockey team. The previous location at Koetshuistuin will be no longer considered suitable by the municipality. “Water and electricity need to be installed in the new location. With the current three diesel prices the areas heating with generators is simply not possible, ”says organizer Brian Vriens.

An after ski party
People who have already bought a ticket will get all their money back. They can, however, go to the Après-Ski Party located in the Grand Café De Bank on Saturday 1st October. Artists booked for October now perform there. Ticket sales have already started. “That way we can still do something this year,” says Vriens. He hopes the event – which has been in existence since 2015 – can continue in its original form next year. “For now we will hire him.”
