More than 5,000 new infections in China in the last 24 hours
China announced this Friday the COVID death of another 52 people in the eastern metropolis of Shanghaibringing the total number of deaths since the epidemic began in the Asian country to 4,975.
The financial capital of China adds a total of 337 deceased since the confinement began more than a month ago in the wake of a sharp increase in cases.
Also, in the last 24 hours 5,659 new positive cases of coronavirus have been reported5,646 of them by local contagion and the rest, imported.
The health authorities also reported today the detection of 10,029 asymptomatic cases, 9,942 of them local (mostly in Shanghai)although Beijing does not count them as confirmed cases unless they show symptoms.
Since the start of the pandemic, 214,243 people have been infected in the country and 4,975 have died.
