Covid. IMSS presents a call for the “Miguel Hidalgo” award for health personnel

Zoé Robledo, CEO of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), announced this morning the call to obtain the decoration “Miguel Hidalgo”, the highest distinction given to Mexicans for heroic acts, and due to the current health emergency situation of the Covid-19, it was decided to hand over the health personnel fighting the pandemic.

At a press conference led by the president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the head of the IMSS explained that through the Institute to Give Back to the People the Stolen (Indep) there is a fund of 250 million pesos to deliver these recognitions.

Zoé Robledo pointed out that article 34 of the Civil Awards, Stimuli and Rewards Law establishes that the “Miguel Hidalgo” decoration is the highest medal that the country grants to its nationals to reward eminent or distinguished merits, conduct or vital and exemplary trajectory , relevant services rendered to the homeland or humanity or heroic acts.

He explained that the “Miguel Hidalgo” award will be awarded in four categories: Grade Necklace, in which 58 decorations, a diploma and 100,000 pesos will be delivered to doctors and nurses from the Covid teams.

At Cross grade, 500 decorations, a diploma and 50 thousand pesos will be given, and they will be delivered to doctors and nursing personnel of the Covid teams in highly specialized hospitals.

While in the Band Grade, will be given to public officials of the Covid hospitals who have had an “exemplary conduct”, and who will be awarded 7,150 decorations and recognition and 25,000 pesos.

In Plate Grade, the head of the IMSS reported that all health personnel who have fought the pandemic will be recognized with a symbolic plaque in federal government hospitals that care for Covid patients.

“Of course, all the personnel have shown great commitment in the present pandemic, but we are looking for precisely those acts of heroism of patriotism of enormous dedication and dedication to service,” he said.

Zoé Robledo reported that in this call, patients who have been cared for by health personnel, as well as workers fighting the pandemic, which to date has left little more than 53 thousand deceased.
