At the request of thousands of parents, who since last week seek the third dose for your children teenagers, and attending the availability of biologicals, finally the Ministry of Public Health (MSPBS) decided to release the booster shot against him covid-19 for all the adolescents from 12 to 17 years immunized in the country.
Thus, always taking into account the minimum application interval of four months After the second vaccine, as of yesterday, adolescents can already be dosed with the third biological Pfizer to reinforce their immunity against the virus.
The change in the vaccination plan was announced the day before by Public Health and immediately the vaccination posts were filled with parents and children seeking the antiviral.

Low vaccination coverage
To date, according to the records of the Expanded Immunization Program (EPI), out of a total population of 823,366 adolescents aged 12 to 17, recently 323,732 people were immunized, of which 216,631 have already received the second dose and are able to apply the third vaccine once the stipulated time has elapsed.
The vaccination coverage in this age group represents the lowest register reported by the PAI, which insists on the importance of the anticovid vaccine reaching the entire vaccinable Paraguayan population.

No scientific evidence
At first, after consulting ABC about why dosing with the booster biological was not necessary for adolescents, the Vice Minister of Health, Dr. Hernán Martínez, had responded that “there is no scientific evidence” to support the need to immunize with a booster vaccine those under 18 years of age.
As Martínez explained, the anticovid vaccine could only be applied to adolescents in special situations, citing, for example, transplanted patients. However, 24 hours later, the health ministry announced that it will begin to immunize this age group.
Prior to yesterday’s announcement, EPI records showed that 693 teens 12 years and older had already received the third shot. Anticovid dosing continues today from 07:00 to 17:00
