COVID-19: Vaud: deprogrammed non-urgent surgical operations – Vaud & Regions

“24 hours” learned that the Directorate General of Health of Vaud has just asked Vaud hospitals and clinics to deprogram all elective operations (that is to say scheduled surgical procedures therefore not urgent) which require more than two days of post-operative hospitalization.

An exceptional measure to deal with the expected progression of the coronavirus epidemic.

“We expected this measure, reacts Patricia Albisetti, secretary general of the Federation of Vaud hospitals (FHV). It’s not accommodating for patients, of course, but it’s relatively easy to set up. Hospitals will contact affected patients to notify them. Of course, things will be done on a case-by-case basis. Hospitals will assess whether the situation has deteriorated, for example. ”

A priori, it will not be possible to give the patients concerned (for example someone who was to have a hip replacement) a new date. “People will be contacted when we are out of this health crisis,” says Patricia Albisetti.
