Covid-19 Vaccine Clinical Trial in Bandung, How’s the Development?

Suara.com – The corona virus vaccine or Covid-19 is the most awaited item in the world and Indonesia today, because with the vaccine it is hoped that the spread of the corona virus can be overcome. So how far has the development of vaccine testing been in the country?

Kusnadi Rusmil Chair of the Clinical Trials Research Team Covid-19 Vaccine Padjajaran University, at the Media Discussion Forum Merdeka Barat 9 (FMB 9) which was held virtually said, Covid-19 vaccine clinical trials (Coronavirus Disease) stage 3 that is being done in Bandung, West Java is the final stage.

If successful, it can be used by the Indonesian people and can be traded. He added that the stage 3 clinical trial was carried out in a multi-center manner.
In phases 1 and 2 that have been carried out in Wuhan, China, from a security point of view, until now, nothing detrimental has happened. He asked the public not to be afraid of this Covid-19 vaccine.

“Because they are familiar with immunization and have been carried out for a long time at the Puskesmas and Posyandu. Like diphtheria, pertussis is very rare in Indonesia. The Covid-19 vaccine is also being done the same thing,” said Kusnadi.

Not only done in Indonesia, the Covid-19 vaccine is also being carried out in several countries. This vaccine, continued Kusnadi, is the only hope to fortify yourself so that the Covid-19 pandemic can be reduced.

In stage 1, continued Kusnadi, the vaccine was tested on 125 people, then 600 people. Before step 1 is carried out, there is a stage called the Pre Clinical Trial which is tested on plants, which results in the plants being not damaged.

“After that, it was injected into mice and monkeys through a vein and the results were no significant changes. Only the first stage of the test was carried out on humans, which was seen as immunogenicity, safety, and effects,” said Kusnadi.

In the second stage, as many as 1,650 people, he added, were injected with the vaccine and the results were without dangerous symptoms.

“Until now there is nothing to worry about,” he said.
