Morocco suspends flights from abroad for two weeks

The Moroccan Government has announced this Sunday the suspension of all direct flights to the country for the next two weeks. As is usual in the Moroccan government announcements regarding the pandemic, the measure will take effect from one day to the next. That is, as of this Monday. The objective is “to preserve the achievements made by Morocco” in its fight against the pandemic, after the appearance in Europe and Africa of the omicron variant, the Government has communicated.

Two days earlier, Morocco had already prohibited access to the country to South African nationals and passengers who have transited through that nation. And in the same week, it had suspended air and maritime connections with France, due to the rapid spread of the covid in the European country.

Morocco, which has covered almost 61% of its entire population with the complete vaccination schedule, maintains strict control over the pandemic and since its inception has tightened preventive measures at airports. Until now, travelers from certain countries (such as France, Germany and the United Kingdom) are required to have a PCR test to enter the country and those arriving from other nations such as the United States, China and, for a few weeks, also Spain All you have to do is present the vaccination certificate with the complete schedule. Still, travelers will have to undergo random antigen testing as soon as they land in the country. Those who test positive will not be allowed to enter Morocco, unless they are Moroccans or residents, in which case they must be quarantined. Informa Francisco Peregil
