Dominican Republic registers a new record of infections with 7,174 cases
The Dominican Republic has reached a new record for covid-19 infections this Friday, with 7,174 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, in which there were seven deaths from the disease, which has been showing high rates of transmission for weeks. The Ministry of Public Health has reported that the total number of confirmed cases of covid-19 since the start of the pandemic amounts to 489,631, while the deceased total 4,266, indicates the latest epidemiological bulletin of Public Health, whose indicators continue to rise.
Active cases total 40,440, with hospital occupancy rising to 33% in covid beds, with 740 places in use of the 2,261 available, while intensive care units (ICU) are at 34% capacity, with 196 beds. occupied out of a total of 585.
As for the fans, their use also rises to 27% of the existing devices, as 128 of the 469 that the system has are occupied. The daily positivity, after having processed 30,950 samples, is 39.90%, while the positivity of the last four weeks reaches 28.07%, indicates the latest epidemiological bulletin. Case fatality is 0.89% and mortality is 408.29 per million inhabitants, with 23.77% and 14.84% of the deceased patients being hypertensive or diabetic, respectively. (Eph)
