Covid-19 kills star of “Kill Bill” and “Fast and Furious”

Japanese actor and karate master Sonny Chiba has died at the age of 82

Japanese actor and karate master Sony Chiba, who played cult roles in the films “Kill Bill” and “Fast and the Furious”, has died from complications of the coronavirus, Variety reported.

At the end of last month, the 82-year-old actor fell ill with Covid-19, but was not hospitalized, but was treated at home. Gradually, his condition worsened and he was admitted to hospital on August 8, where he unfortunately died, writes The Japan Times.

Sony Chiba has over 200 roles in his film career. Because of his incredible martial arts skills, he is often referred to as the “Japanese Bruce Lee.”

Quentin Tarantino took him for a small role in his film “Kill Bill”, which made him popular outside the Land of the Rising Sun. In the production, he plays the master Hatori Hanzo, who makes a sword for the heroine of Uma Thurman.

Chiba has a black belt in several styles of martial arts – judo, kendo, ninjutsu, kyokushinkai and others.

The actor has two marriages and three children.
